Anupama Sundara Murthy on the hills of Vindhyagiri is Gullukayajji Murthy in the Gullukayajji Mandapam outside Baahubali’s courtyard. Chavundaraya installed the Gommata idol with splendor He prepared for Mahamastakabhisheka. The anointing of milk began. Even after anointing with milk, the milk did not come down from the chest of Baahubali’s idol. Chavundaraya, who was proud that no one else could make such a magnificent idol but me, was worried by the incomplete abhisheka. Chavundaraya began to think of a way to complete the Abhishekam. Then an old lady with a small gourd full of milk came and expressed her desire to anoint the Swami at Chavundaraya, who gave her the opportunity to do anointment with her head. The grandmother anointed the milk in the gourd from the top of Swami’s head and bathed the entire body of the Bahubali idol. Mahamastakabhisheka was completed. Ashamed of his pride, Chavundaraya fell at his grandmother’s feet and begged for forgiveness. He came to know that the grandmother was none other than the goddess Kushmandini who came in that form and destroyed his ego. There should be no ego in Bhakti, there is power in Bhakti. This Gullukayaji, who showed that worship without divine devotion is not a means of liberation, is enshrined in the Gullukayajji Mandapam of Vindhyagiri, where Baahubali’s Sripads can be seen in idol form. The idol is beautiful with its blouse, pleats of the sari in a unique way, utta saree, odave, materials and sculptural features.
