Hosa Basadi (Chavisa Tirthankara Basadi)

The Chavisa Tirthankara Basti, which is also commonly known as the Hosa Basadi or Chouvis Tirthankar Basadi, is a small and historically significant brick-and-mortar shrine constructed in the 17th century by Mullanayaka, who was a devoted disciple of the prominent Jain spiritual leader Charukirti Deva.Positioned directly to the right and west of the first defensive gateway on Vindhyagiri Hill in Shravanabelagola, Karnataka, this simple building features a sacred inner sanctum that preserves a carved stone slab relief measuring precisely 2 feet 10 inches tall.The structure displays a distinct architectural design and layout where the sacred panel beautifully depicts all twenty-four Tirthankaras of Jain tradition, presenting three specific figures in a standing position at the base while the remaining twenty-one holy figures are sculpted in a seated posture.
